SUMMARY:
The Senior Marketing and Sales Representative is an essential member of a dynamic department that is responsible for maximizing waterpark attendance through group sales and promoting in-park resources. This role will lead the effort of selling and coordinating non-catered and catered groups of 75 or more people, special events and other designated sales categories. This position will help develop and carry out promotional strategies to boost in-park sales and lengthen the guest visit with entertainment. Additionally, this role will assist with launching planned marketing strategies with a concentration in group sales and social media.
REPORTING:
This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Sales.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Target and provide discounted group rates to clients in the Hampton Roads territory with a focus on catered, non-catered and special event ticket categories
Working with multiple departments, develop and coordinate the programming for in-park music, the digital movie screen, in-park signage and announcements
Field incoming sales inquiries and administer appropriate follow-up which may include phone, email, mail, virtual meetings and in person scenarios
Make prospect calls to client lists and activate accounts
Generate tickets, contracts and appropriate correspondence needed for group sales clients
Maintain the databases, internal spreadsheets and corporate financial records for group events and inquiries
Hands on coordination of large on-site group events
Update group sales report and assist with additional reporting and other analysis, as needed
Assist the Marketing and Sales Director and agency with existing and new social media platform development, maintenance, content creation, monitoring and analysis to enhance the overall marketing and sales strategy
Assist with hiring, training and providing leadership for the department seasonal team
Assist with preparing tasks and projects for the Marketing & Sales Coordinator and seasonal team, related to day-to-day on-site sales and promotions operations.
Assist with the execution of various park-wide events such as season passholder and movie nights
Contribute to the development of both sales, promotional and in-park offerings and packages in keeping with budget guidance and waterpark leadership direction
Special projects as assigned by Director of Marketing and Sales
Ensure a safe working environment; inspect and correct work areas on regular basis; report all workplace injuries and concerns immediately
Ability to recognize problems and to creatively and immediately find solutions.

PREREQUISITES:
Excellent communicator that can both understand and interpret written and verbal instruction.
Proficient Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Possesses basic understanding of social media practices including the use of mainstream social media platforms.
Basic understanding of event coordination and strong organizational skills.
Experience with client and customer management, communicating sometimes complex ideas to clients and guests, and maintaining effective client, colleague, and guest communications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, team lift for heavier objects
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Ability to work in outdoor conditions
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a phone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Position requires sitting, standing and walking with occasional stooping, reaching, kneeling and crouching/ squatting.
